POSITION OVERVIEWThe Head of NA Diversity and Inclusion (D&I) will further refine, deliver and drive D&I strategies and initiatives to embrace and leverage diversity within the organization, support Sanofi’s diverse patient and customer base, and achieve the Company’s diversity and inclusion vision. The Head of NA D&I will have responsibility for building on the current D&I foundation and leading a comprehensive and measurable diversity, equity and inclusion strategy that is integrated in the overall business and talent strategiesThis role will require thought leadership, perspective and vision on matters of diversity in total talent, learning, development, and external partnership management to implement programs to promote and strengthen an inclusive and diverse culture. S/he will act as the principal architect on how the company designs, structures, and implements these mission critical D&I priorities at both the Company and across our Global Business Units.Operationally, you will have direct accountability for leading regional D&I strategy development and implementation with a high level of connectivity and influence related to our Global D&I efforts. You will be an internal advisor and subject matter expert, fostering high impact D&I alliances across the enterprise, and leading all external outreach regarding Sanofi’s corporate reputation and image related to D&I.As the Advisory member of the U.S. and Canadian Executive Diversity and Inclusion Councils, you will be called upon to provide business acumen, judgment and professionalism in counseling and influencing executive-level stakeholders in a wide range of D&I initiatives, to ensure sustained commitment and measurable impact related to D&I.As a key member of the North America Human Resources Leadership Team, you will actively position the strategic alignment and integration of diversity and inclusion throughout the HR function.In this critical leadership role, the successful candidate will:Lead the strategic development & implementation in close partnership with the HR Leadership Team, US & CA Country Councils, the respective Executive D&I Councils and other critical internal stakeholders to ensure the D&I strategies and programs will contribute to a diverse, inclusive culture that can deliver the against business objectives.Create strategic alignments with external partners and networks to help augment the company’s strategy and provide leading edge insights into D&I.Build upon existing partnerships and/or form new ones with key professional organizations, conferences, educational institutions, HBCUs, local community groups and nonprofit organizations.Consult with and advise senior leadership to assess, plan and implement D&I programs that support the region and/or business unit strategiesServe as internal and external thought leader and spokesperson on D&I, culture and talent issues through speaking engagements, policy review, and public/government relations efforts.Effectively communicate measurable outcomes of ongoing efforts, sharing Sanofi’s progress related to our D&I ambition, an inclusive culture and employee belonging.Align cross-functional resources to deliver high business impact including:Continued integration of D&I into key HR processes, through consultation and partnership, including talent management, leadership development and people development, and recruitingConsult and partner with HR Business Partners to align to their respective client groups to understand and deliver strategic programs that meet their unique needsConsult and partner with the Total Talent team on diversity outreach programs related to D&I.Consult and partner with Head of Employment Law Group to ensure alignment with Sanofi policies and practices and external regulatory expectations.Collaboration with critical internal stakeholders to ensure strong D&I focus within Corporate Social Responsibility, Supplier Diversity, Clinical Trial Diversity and other marketplace-specific areas of opportunity.Partner with Global Diversity to share best practices and support the Global Diversity vision. Manage the budget allocated to D&I in alignment with strategy and key accountabilitiesProvide strategic oversight of Sanofi’s Employee Resource Groups, furthering their impact on the enterprise through emphasis on community, careers, commerce and culture.D&I Reputation Management:Establish robust external partnerships through participation on councils, conferences, task forces, and professional affiliations, as required, to strengthen D&I solutions, perceptions and impact within the Company and to external audiences. Manage sponsorship of strategically selected conferences and events, including branding and employee attendance.Develop and deploy effective internal and external communications and branding to influence participation and perceptions of Sanofi as an employer of choice, committed throughout all levels to D&I.Strategic oversight of external recognitions related to D&I in connection with Sanofi’s standing as an employer of choice (HRC’s Corporate Equality Index, Diversity Inc. Top 50, Working Mother’s Top 100) etc.Manage Compliance, Report and Analyze Metrics:Analyze, monitor and report internal workforce demographic data and external labor trends; monitor and apprise businesses of relevant market trends and availability data to grow the pipelineEnsure all compliance requirements are met (EEO/AAP) and enable productive relationships with related regulatory and government agencies to support organization’s efforts to attract under-represented groups.Analyze metrics and research on D&I best practices and benchmarks as input to designing and implementing initiatives. Develop and communicate internal reporting and communications to demonstrate the business impact of D&I initiatives.Report on metrics/KPIs to Group Diversity on an annual basis and for ad hoc requests.YEAR ONE CRITICAL SUCCESS FACTORSBuild an understanding of the organization, business and culture.Begin to develop strong relationships that will be critical to achieving momentum, including with leaders who can be D&I change agents.Continue showing positive movement in workforce diversity and succession measures.Help define strong D&I strategy integration points across all talent practices. Enable a seamless approach and link between D&I priorities and the talent value proposition.PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONSBachelor's degree and 10+ years of experience in HR, D&I, Marketing or closely related.Direct people leadership experience.Current active involvement in Diversity and Inclusion functional community, within an organization and external.Proficient skills and experience managing US Affirmative Action PlansAbility to see where Diversity and Inclusion issues and initiatives intersect with other HR and foundation practices.Ability to 'think out of the box', be an innovative and creative thinker.Experience presenting to senior level management to influence organizational leadership.The Desired Candidate ProfileConsigliere/Counsellor: Confidante and trusted advisor to the Business /HR, and other senior business leaders. While the individual does not need to come directly from industry, s/he must clearly demonstrate intellectual curiosity, a strong desire to learn and the ability to understand key business drivers that affect company strategy and performance and impact employees’ value proposition.
