We are proud to be an equal opportunity employer.About Pendleton Correctional Facility:The Pendleton Correctional Facility (PCF), formerly known as the Indiana Reformatory, is a state prison located on 500 acres, 33 acres of which are located within the perimeter of the 30 foot wall. This is a maximum security facility that was built in 1922. PCF currently houses over 1,600 male offenders. This facility offers many opportunities to its offender population, including the opportunity to work, obtain their High School Equivalent, and be involved in facility-led programs. One specific program, PLUS (Purposeful Living Units Serve), is a faith- and character-based program aimed at helping offenders avoid criminal behavior by teaching them to demonstrate the following core values: honesty, integrity, respect, responsibility, compassion and tolerance. Pendleton also has 4 different programs for our offenders that deal with animals, including ICAN (Indiana Canine Assistance Network), a facility apprenticeship program which allows inmates to train dogs to become service animals to assist the disabled.Salary Information:This role starts at a base salary of $45,292.About the Job:As the Correctional Lieutenant, you will be responsible for work involving the supervision of offenders in a correctional facility. You will maintain the security of the facility as well as the safety of staff and offenders while ensuring daily activities and programs proceed on schedule. The Correctional Lieutenant supervises Correctional Sergeants and Correctional Officers on an assigned shift in an assigned area under the general supervision of a Correctional Captain.A Day in the Life:The essential functions of this role are as follows: Maintain order and security of offenders in facility.Assist supervisor in appropriate administration of security related operations (key control, count, shakedowns, searches, inventory, equipment maintenance, radios, security systems, etc.).Supervise subordinate staff to include performance evaluations, training, and discipline (up to the reprimand level).Provide input to supervisors concerning post assignments and discipline.Provide supervisor with input concerning specific security issues.Assist in identifying offender treatment needs and support treatment programs.Maintain records and writes reports on offender movement, offender progress, and violations of policies and procedures.Remain alert for signs of disorder or tension.Counsel offenders in an informal and unofficial capacity.Follow and ensure compliance with established security procedures.Supervise Correctional Officers.The job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee.
