The Copyeditor will utilize their expertise in editing to help team members deliver strategic, well-written direct marketing materials for causes such as finding and funding a cure for breast cancer, meals for the homeless and hungry, and rescuing animals from abuse. The Copyeditor reports directly to the Production Manager and works closely with the Copywriters to incorporate improvements and corrections that increase the finished quality of every assignment. They will be responsible for the accuracy of all files to reflect strategy and optimum output performance and have a solid understanding of production specifications and requirements. Responsibilities and Expectations: The successful Copyeditor candidate will join the creative teams assigned to specified clients/verticals comprised to meet the unique needs of different clients. Duties and responsibilities on these teams include: Working closely with the Creative Group’s Production Managers to support the high-quality development of donor-centric, insight-driven, integrated creative solutions.Collaborate with team members to produce accurate and effective high-quality direct response materials.Work closely with the Copywriters to make improvements to output files that are consistent with the creative direction and in compliance with the client’s brand standards and industry best practices.Make edits to copy, as needed, which includes but is not limited to:Creating letter versions and/or variables for job as laid out in strategy, with changes per audience/segments.Working closely with others who have QC responsibility (associate creative directors, production artists and print buyers).Matching printed layouts and mockups to ensure mail kits and versioning match strategy and reflect copy decks.Reviewing copy against routing art to ensure copy and art match.Edit copy decks to ensure: Readability and logical flow.Transitions between paragraphs.Adherence to strategy. Accuracy of variable copy and codes.Provide feedback on client edits/preference to proofreader to keep client style guide updated. Requirements: Good interpersonal and communication skills both verbal and written.Self-motivated, highly organized and takes initiative.Enjoys challenging and fast paced work environment and has the ability to work on multiple projects to meet tight deadlines.Demonstrates high work ethic and professionalism with a team player approach. Displays high levels of integrity and attention to detail.Ability to work and collaborate effectively with other creative staff and other departments, either remotely or in-office. Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree, preferably in English or a related field.Two-plus years of industry experience with a direct response firm or an equivalent corporate position with experience with print media, digital media, video production, and web production preferred.Must have strong writing and editing skills in English, be detail-oriented, be able to prioritize and focus, use effective time management, and have familiarity with common grammar style guides.Proficient PC or Mac computer skills, especially with Adobe Acrobat and Microsoft Word.Experience working with Asana and MS Teams is a plus.
